I Always End Up Back On The Scales

It is Friday and you are standing on it again.

You started on Monday. You did four days. You did them well and you enjoyed two of them, and on Friday morning you stood on the thing in the corner of the bathroom, and it said what it says.

And by Friday evening the whole week has been re categorized.

This is the only article on this site where the scale gets mentioned. It gets mentioned here because it has to be taken out of the house, and you cannot take a thing out that has never been named.

Everywhere else on this site, weight is not the subject and does not appear. Here it appears once, so that it can be removed.

Here is what happens in the Friday, and I want to describe it accurately because the accuracy is what makes it possible to do something about it.

You did not go back to the scale to check your progress. You went back to the scale to find out whether the week counted. That is a different act entirely. You had four good days and you handed them to an object to be scored, and the object has one input and it does not know anything about the four days.

So the number came back and it revoked them.

Man looketh on the outward, but the LORD looketh on the heart

There is a moment in Samuel where God stops a prophet who is assessing men by looking at them.

But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. (1 Samuel 16:7, King James Version)

The LORD sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward, but the LORD looks on the heart.

Samuel was not being shallow. He was doing his job. He was looking at the visible facts, which is what everybody does, and God stops him mid assessment.

You have a verse where God interrupts a measurement that was being taken in good faith, and 1 Samuel 16:7 has never once treated the visible reading as the real one. The LORD sees differently, and the Holy Spirit is the one who does the assessing that no instrument in a bathroom is capable of.

You are able to see the mercy in the interruption. Samuel would have chosen wrongly, confidently, on good evidence, and the correction saves him from it.

And notice that God does not say the outward reading is false. Eliab really was tall. The visible information was accurate. It was simply not the information that mattered, and reading the right data for the wrong question produces a wrong answer every time.

That is your Friday. The number is accurate. It is also answering a question you did not ask, and you have been treating its answer as a verdict on four days it knows nothing about.

You are able to take an accurate reading and refuse to accept it as a verdict, and 1 Samuel 16:7 has never once made the visible measurement the judge of anything. The Spirit of God is the one who looks at the heart, and the verse stops a good man in the middle of an honest assessment.

The reason that can be revoked

Here is the mechanism, and it explains all five of your attempts.

A reason that a number can cancel is a reason that a number will cancel.

You have been using a motive with a revocation clause in it, and 1 Samuel 16:7 has never once put the judging in the hands of the thing that can be seen. It is written that man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart, and the Holy Spirit is the one who supplies a reason nothing in a bathroom can withdraw.

If the reason you are moving is the number, then the number has the authority to end it, and it will use that authority, because bodies do not move in straight lines and the number will disappoint you inside three weeks with mathematical certainty.

All five attempts carried that clause, and every one of them was terminated by the same instrument.

So the work is not to try harder on Friday. It is to have a reason that is not on the same circuit.

And this site has one, and it is not a consolation prize. The reason is that there are people in this house and moving is one of the few things you can do together that is not sitting down. That reason cannot be revoked by an object, because the object has no information about it and no standing to comment.

You are able to move for something the scale has no access to, and a reason it cannot reach has never once been a softer reason than the one it can. The Spirit of God is the one who looks where nobody else is looking, and 1 Samuel 16:7 leaves the seeing that matters entirely with Him.

Move the object out of the room

So here is the assignment, and the first half is physical and unusually specific.

Move the scale out of the room you weigh yourself in, and then go and walk ten minutes with somebody.

You are able to move an object in your own house, and moving it has never once been the same as running from anything. It is written that the LORD seeth not as man seeth, and the Holy Spirit is the one who is present with a woman picking something up off a bathroom floor.

Do not throw it away. That would make this a large dramatic act with a decision attached to it, and large dramatic acts get reversed, and the reversal is worse than never having done it.

Move it. Out of the bathroom, into a cupboard, under a bed, somewhere in this house where standing on it requires two deliberate minutes rather than four seconds.

That is the whole mechanism. The Friday morning weighing is not a decision, it is a habit that runs on proximity, and putting three doors between you and it converts an automatic act into a choice.

For one week. Not forever. One week, and this article does not ask you for a commitment beyond that.

You have a habit that runs on how near a thing is, and interrupting it at the distance has never once been a lesser cure than interrupting it at the will. The Spirit of God is the one who looks on the heart, and 1 Samuel 16:7 takes the authority away from the visible reading rather than from the person taking it.

And then, this is the second half and it matters, go and walk with somebody for ten minutes, so that the week has something in it other than a subtraction.
